Bachy Soletanche restructure for three-year growth plan

The Shieldhall Tunnel in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest wastewater tunnel, Bachy Soletanche constructed 675 piles during over 16-weeks.

UK-based geotechnical contractor Bachy Soletanche have reorganised their operations into three divisions as part of a three-year strategy aimed at expanding its services across the UK and Ireland.

The restructuring introduces two regional divisions—Northern and Southern—and a national Projects Division to better serve clients.

The Northern Division, led by Shaun Davison, will focus on smaller projects across the Midlands, Northern England, and Scotland. Davison’s team will also handle larger infrastructure projects when required, having previously worked on notable schemes such as the Shieldhall Tunnel in Glasgow and the Mersey Gateway Crossing.

In the Southern Division, Martin Stanley will oversee geotechnical work across Southern England and South Wales. Stanley’s team aims to continue offering a broad range of piling and ground engineering services for infrastructure and commercial projects of varying scales.

The Projects Division, under Dominic Lovelock, will focus on larger, complex geotechnical and civil engineering projects across the UK and Ireland. This division will take on roles as geotechnical specialists, principal contractors, or part of joint ventures, with current involvement in high-profile projects such as HS2 and the Tideway Tunnel.

Supporting these divisions is a new Engineering Department led by Sivilay Sayavong. This team will handle both permanent and temporary works designs and will introduce new techniques from the global Soletanche Bachy group into the UK market.

Commenting on the changes, managing director Tamas Kaltenbacher said: “We are placing our clients at the heart of the business and believe this approach will allow us to provide more tailored solutions. This restructuring will help us diversify and broaden our offering, from small local projects to large, multi-disciplinary contracts.”
