UK architect Foster + Partners design new outdoor concrete seating for Spain’s Escofet

Foster + Partners Industrial Design has unveiled Gather, an innovative outdoor seating solution created for the Spanish street furniture brand Escofet. Aimed at fostering relaxed and active use of public spaces, Gather is crafted from Escofet's ultra-high-performance Slimconcrete, a material known for its sleek and thin profile, finished by hand.

The Gather seating collection features a modular system that includes linear, concave, convex, and end modules. These elements can be combined in various configurations, from enclosed pocket spaces to long, curving, or straight benches. The design achieves a refined and slender look, with the backrest and cantilevered seat tapering to just 40MM at the edges.

Developed in conjunction with the architecture practice's landscape and urban design teams, Gather, along with the Tiers collection, provides versatile and creative solutions for architects, urban planners, and landscape designers.

Available in four concrete colours—grey, black, white, and beige—Gather also offers a bespoke aluminium armrest, meeting diverse ergonomic and privacy needs.
