Grimshaw-Smith joins Logistics UK board
Cemex has announced that Mark Grimshaw-Smith, Rail and Sea Manager in its Supply Chain team, has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Logistics UK. The organisation represents the UK’s logistics sector, covering road, rail, sea, and air transport, and advocates for a sustainable, safe, and efficient industry.
Mark joins three other new directors, bringing valuable experience to strengthen Logistics UK’s strategic development. Phil Roe, President of Logistics UK, commented, “Our new non-executive directors bring a wide range of knowledge to help drive the organisation forward.”
With over 40 years of experience in construction materials supply chains, Mark has led efforts at Cemex to shift transport to rail, sea, and inland waterways, improving efficiency and sustainability. This supports Cemex’s goal to become carbon net zero by 2050 under its Future in Action programme.
Mark said, “I’m delighted to use my experience across transport modes to help the UK’s logistics sector grow. Logistics plays a vital role in facilitating economic growth through materials and services.”
He is also committed to improving safety in the freight environment and has worked on developing global rail safety standards and raising rail safety awareness in schools.
As part of his role, Mark aims to advance the UK’s logistics sector in safety, sustainability, innovation, and customer experience.
