Soilmec showcases piling and ground engineering rigs for concrete sector at bauma 2025

Soilmec has presented a wide range of specialist piling and ground engineering equipment suitable for concrete construction at this year’s bauma 2025, held earlier this month in Munich.

The company’s exhibit featured its most recent SR and SM line models, all aimed at concrete piling, deep foundations, and structural reinforcement in infrastructure, commercial, and urban construction projects.

Large diameter piling with the SR line

The SR-95 Blue Tech, SR-65 Blue Tech, and newly launched SR-45 Blue Tech Plus drew attention for their adaptability across bored piles, continuous flight auger (CFA), deep soil mixing, and compacted pile techniques.

At the top of the range, the SR-95 has an operating weight of nearly 100 tonnes and is capable of drilling piles over 100 metres deep. Configured with a telescopic Kelly bar, it can install tools up to 2,700 mm in diameter. The rig features a Stage V Cummins X15 engine delivering 455 kW (610 HP) and a 352 kN main winch, making it well suited for demanding concrete foundation work.

The mid-range SR-65 remains one of Soilmec’s best sellers, offering a combination of site agility, transport ease, and robust performance in drilled piles with casing. Its low headroom version supports projects under overhead structures, while the VDW configuration enables CFA in restricted access sites.

The newly introduced SR-45 Blue Tech Plus brings improved efficiency and reduced emissions. With a rotary torque of 170.3 kNm, a compact design, and an upgraded hydraulic system, the machine is ideal for urban piling and deep ground improvement. Its reduced oil volume and modular ballast system support sustainability while lowering operating costs.

Micropiles and structural reinforcement with the SM line

Soilmec also displayed its SM-11, SM-18, and SM-22 machines, all designed for micropiling, soil anchors, and ground engineering work. These models are particularly suited to concrete structure repair, retaining wall stabilisation, and underpinning.

The SM-11 is a compact, 11-tonne rig with multiple rotary head options and a 96 kN push-pull force, making it effective in confined sites such as basements and inner-city developments.

The SM-18, a long-established Soilmec model, now comes with a new 280 HP Cummins engine and an upgraded jet grouting kit capable of single-pass treatments up to 27.3 metres. It features a 10-rod loader for safe, deep drilling to 66 metres.

The larger SM-22 supports heavier work such as deep ground anchors and tie rods, thanks to a 150 kN gear motor, new front stabilisers, and a 10.2-metre stroke. It’s also equipped with a powerful HR3700 rotary head and a new telescopic extractor designed for safe rod removal in difficult ground conditions.

Digital controls and training

Soilmec’s stand also featured its DMS control suite, including a realistic SR simulator, AI-assisted safety systems, and smart maintenance tools for predictive servicing. These systems support safe and efficient operations for both new and experienced operators.
