Latest UK concrete planning news
Following the submission of a planning application in March this year, Ardmore Precast Concrete was recently granted permission for a new greenfield precast manufacturing plant in Maydown, Londonderry, in Northern Ireland. As it approaches its 50th year of incorporation, the privately-owned company will relocate its activities around 5 miles to the north from its existing production base in Ardmore.
The new 2ha site, which will include production sheds, workshop unit, office block, a welfare unit and storage for manufactured products, will also provide the opportunity to increase productivity and output and, at the same time, bring it closer to the main road network and to Foyle Port. The port is operated by the Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners and is the most westerly port in the UK and an important northerly port on Ireland, a facility which the business already utilises to export products to mainland Great Britain.
The factory will be used for the manufacture of a range of standard products including flood defence and other retaining walls, ballast collars, box culverts, windowsills, kerbs, posts and lintels. In addition, Ardmore Precast Concrete also delivers bespoke precast solutions for both domestic and commercial markets.
