Swinley Forest Warehouse transformed

A demolition robot using a hammer to break a concrete floor

Castle & Pryor have recently completed a project at a Swinley Forest warehouse, transforming it into a single open space by removing a central dividing wall and levelling the floor.

The renovated warehouse will be used to store Winter Wonderland equipment from Ascot during the off-season.

To remove the large dividing wall, which measured 3.6m high, 180mm thick, and 82m long, Castle & Pryor formed 127mm diameter diamond-drilled holes in the upper part of the wall to create lifting points. These allowed a telehandler to secure the wall sections while they were cut free from the floor using the Tyrolit WSE 1217 track saw, a high-precision, electric-powered saw ideal for cutting through thick concrete and masonry with accuracy. Once cut, the wall sections were lifted away for potential reuse on other estate projects.

After removing the wall, Castle & Pryor turned to the task of levelling the 54 by 2.9m floor by reducing its height by 30mm. The team used the Tyrolit 1049 floor saw, known for its powerful and precise cutting capabilities, to create incremental strips in the concrete. This method ensured an easier and more uniform removal process, leaving the floor evenly prepared.

Following the strip cutting, the concrete was broken out using the Husqvarna DXR 145 demolition robot, a compact and remote-controlled machine ideal for confined spaces. Equipped with a wide bolster chisel, the DXR 145 efficiently removed the concrete, resulting in a flat and level finish at the bottom of the rebate.

“The project was completed efficiently, converting the warehouse into a functional storage space, ready for use in the coming months,” said a company spokesperson.

With the renovated now complete, the warehouse will be used to store Winter Wonderland equipment from Ascot during the off-season.
