Attlebridge Concrete create bespoke plinths for Anthony Gormley sculptures

Norwich-based precast concrete manufacturer, Attlebridge Concrete has recently completed a bespoke commission for an Anthony Gormley installation at Houghton Hall and Gardens in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.

In 2023, The estate officer of Cholmondeley Estates (part of Houghton Hall) commissioned Attlebridge Concrete to make bespoke concrete plinths to support each of the 100 life-sized cast-iron sculptures. Each sculpture weighs 620kg and stands at an average of 191cm.

Entitled Time Horizon, it is the first time the exhibition has been staged in the UK. The sculptures are spread across 300 acres of the parkland with the furthest one being some 1.5miles from the house itself. Depending on the topography, the sculptures are buried at different levels – in some places, the whole figure can be seen and in others, only part of the head is visible.

Time Horizon runs until October 2024.
