Grantham-based crusher and screener manufacturer Red Rhino has been named Family Business of the Year at the Midlands Family Business Awards. The annual event celebrates family-owned businesses across various sectors for their contributions to the regional economy and communities.

Red Rhino, acquired by Winfield Engineering in 2009, impressed the judges with its innovation, passion, and commitment to excellence. The business specialises in producing crushers and screeners with the ability to crush and organise material such as concrete, brick and other building waste into reusable material. All products are manufactured in the UK, with Red Rhino continuing to see significant international growth, attracting customers from as far as the USA and Europe.

At the awards ceremony on 3rd October, held at Athena in Leicester, Red Rhino’s director, Laura Winfield, spoke of the importance of family values in their success:

“This award means so much to us. It’s not just special for the Winfield family, but for the entire Red Rhino team who make what we do so rewarding every single day.”

Winfield also emphasised the company’s commitment to local employment and the importance of family businesses to the national economy:

“Family businesses are the backbone of the economy, and seeing so many in attendance fills me with immense pride. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has supported us, and congratulations to all the finalists and winners.”

Red Rhino’s win follows a rigorous judging process, with over 50 businesses shortlisted across nine categories, including Sustainability, Digital & Tech Innovation, and Property & Construction Excellence.
