Latest annual report provides estimates of outputs and market shares by plant and company
BDS have published their latest annual report ‘Estimated Outputs (2021) of Ready-mix Concrete Companies in Great Britain’. The report provides estimates of outputs and market shares by individual ready-mixed concrete (RMX) plants and companies for Great Britain. The report is one of a series of output reports that BDS have published annually for more than 25 years. Other reports include ‘Estimated Outputs of Aggregate Sites in Great Britain’ and ‘Estimated Outputs of Asphalt Plants in Great Britain’.
In the latest report, BDS estimate the ready-mixed concrete market in Great Britain (2021) to be over 24 million cubic metres with batching plants contributing a share of around 90% and the remainder accountable to the on-site batched sector. More than 1,280 RMX plants, mostly located in England, are identified in the report.
The ready-mixed concrete market in Great Britain continues to be dominated by five producers – Breedon, Tarmac, Hanson, Aggregates Industries and CEMEX – who between them accounted for 58% of the total market in 2021. For the second year running, Breedon were identified as the largest producer of ready-mixed concrete in Great Britain.
