Major infrastructure development in North Lincolnshire

North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park

North Lincolnshire Green Energy Park, a renewable energy investment firm set up by Solar 21, has received a consent for a major infrastructure development in North Lincolnshire, Yorkshire & The Humber. The project, approved in March 2025, includes a concrete block manufacturing facility integrated within the Energy Recovery Facility development.

The approved site is adjacent to Flixborough Wharf, near Scunthorpe, on the east bank of the River Trent. The development will be largely located on agricultural land within Flixborough Industrial Estate as well as operational port space and existing industrial infrastructure.

Once operational the facility will process ash residues from the Energy Recovery Facility which will be utilised within 262,000 tonnes of concrete blocks annually. The process will convert what would be classed as waste material into a construction product, contributing to the circular economy and reduction in carbon footprint.

The concrete will be distributed via rail, through the development of a new railhead at Flixborough Port and by road and river transport. The ash waste material will also be shipped off-site for onward processing and manufacturing of concrete products.
