UK-based, international infrastructure group Balfour Beatty have announced the appointment of Nick Crossfield as CEO of the company’s UK Construction Services business.

Crossfield will oversee the strategic direction of Balfour Beatty’s UK Construction Services, focusing on enhancing its role in the infrastructure market. This includes sectors such as energy, defence, and sustainable transportation.

Key clients include SCAPE, the Environment Agency, the NHS, Rolls Royce, and local authorities.

Crossfield will join the Executive Committee and report to group chief executive Leo Quinn.

With a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Reading University, Crossfield brings over 40 years of experience in industrial and engineering sectors. His career began at BAE Systems, and he has held roles at British Steel, Network Rail, and Siemens. Most recently, he was Managing Director of Alstom Transportation’s UK and Ireland business.

Leo Quinn, group chief executive officer, said: “Nick’s extensive experience and proven track record make him an ideal leader for our UK Construction Services business. He has a strong history of working with the government and managing large businesses, driving operational improvements, and achieving sustainable growth.”

Nick Crossfield comments: “I am excited to join Balfour Beatty. I have admired the Group’s progress over the last decade and look forward to contributing to the continued delivery of key infrastructure projects across the UK.”

Balfour Beatty’s UK Construction Services is divided into three units: Scotland, Buildings (handling construction projects in aviation, health, defence, education, and development in England), and Civils (managing civil engineering projects in transportation, flood defence, and energy sectors in England). The division also includes Balfour Beatty Living Places, Balvac, and Balfour Beatty Homes.
