CCS acquires Building a Safer Future programme
The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) has officially acquired the Building a Safer Future (BSF) programme, aimed at fostering a culture of safety within the construction sector. Launched in response to the Grenfell Tower fire, the BSF programme promotes accountability, transparency, and the sharing of best practices to ensure safe buildings for occupants.
CCS was appointed to manage the BSF Charter in early 2020, establishing Building a Safer Future Ltd as a not-for-profit organisation with an independent governance structure. Originally focused on high-rise residential buildings, the BSF has since expanded its scope to encompass all building types and construction activities.
Companies can now apply to become Registered Signatories of the Charter or participate in the Champions programme, which offers third-party assessments that provide insights into existing safety leadership and culture. This data enables organisations to improve their processes and enhance safety standards.
Peter Caplehorn, non-executive director for Considerate Constructors, stated: “The acquisition signals our continued commitment to improved safety and standards in the construction industry. CCS is the commonsense future home for the BSF business, staff, and clients.” Graham Watts, non-executive director for BSF, added: “Our common purpose is key in helping organisations meet their requirements, ensuring that risk profiles are reduced across the industry.”
This acquisition follows CCS’s recent partnership with compliance and risk management leader Veriforce CHAS, aimed at broadening inspection monitoring services across the UK.
Financial details of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
