The international underground engineering community is preparing for two major events in 2025, focusing on industry challenges, developments, and achievements.

The World Tunnel Congress (WTC) will take place from 9 to 15 May in Stockholm, Sweden. Organised by the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association (ITA), the annual event attracts over 2,000 professionals from across the sector. The programme includes technical discussions, training sessions, and networking opportunities.

Later in the year, the ITA Tunnelling Awards will be held in Belgrade, Serbia, from 1 to 3 October. Now in its 11th year, the awards recognise outstanding contributions across eight categories within underground engineering. The event is being organised in collaboration with the Serbian Association for Tunnels and Underground Structures and the Southeastern Europe Tunnelling Conference.

An ITA spokesperson said: "These events provide a vital platform for knowledge-sharing and recognition within the underground engineering industry. We encourage professionals to participate and contribute to the discussions."

Further details, including registration and submission deadlines for the awards, can be found on the official event websites (see links above).
