2025 PCI Design Awards honour top precast projects

The Harkers Island Bridge Replacement, Harkers Island, NC won both the 2025 PCI Design Awards’ "Special Award: the Harry H. Edwards Industry Advancement Award", and the "Transportation Award: Best Bridge with a Main Span from 76-200 Feet (23-61 metres)".

Outstanding precast concrete projects recognised in US awards

A high-rise in Canada, a university building dedicated to concrete studies, and a site made famous by a Hollywood film are among the winners of the 2025 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Design Awards. The awards were presented on 6 February at the PCI Convention in Indianapolis, USA.

The PCI Design Awards, now in their 62nd year, celebrate innovation and creativity in precast concrete construction. Entries are judged by panels of engineers, architects, and precast concrete producers. Categories cover buildings and transport infrastructure, assessed for aesthetics, structural and functional versatility, site efficiency, sustainability, and resilience.

Some projects also received special awards, including the Harry H. Edwards Industry Advancement Award, the Building Information Modelling (BIM) Award, the Sustainable Design Award, and the All-Precast Concrete Solution Award. These recognise contributions to advancing the industry, sustainability, and the effective use of technology.

“This year’s winning projects leave no doubt that precast concrete is the construction material of choice for a wide variety of building and transportation projects,” said PCI president and chief executive Bob Risser. “The projects demonstrate precast concrete’s sustainable, resilient, and aesthetic strengths. Congratulations to all of the winners.”

The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute is a US-based organisation that promotes precast concrete construction. It provides industry research, education, and certification programmes, mainly serving the North American market. It also advocates for the use of precast concrete in sustainable and resilient construction.
