Nominations open for Concrete Society Awards 2025

The Whiteley is the large‐scale reimagining of the former Whiteleys shopping centre in London’s Bayswater. This huge restoration project includes the construction of a deep three‐level basement and a ten‐storey superstructure mixed residential and retail space, set behind a retained and refurbished Grade II-listed façade.

Nominations are now open for the highly anticipated Concrete Society Awards 2025, a cornerstone of excellence in the construction industry. Recognised for celebrating innovation and craftsmanship, the awards generate significant publicity for all shortlisted projects, highlighting the versatility and ingenuity of concrete applications.

The Concrete Society encourages submissions showcasing the diverse potential of concrete. Past winners have included private homes, hotels, bridges, coastal works, churches, offices, wastewater treatment plants, and even innovative sculptures. Both new constructions and repurposed buildings are eligible, provided they are UK-based and substantially completed between Autumn 2023 and Spring 2025.

Last year's winner

The 2024 awards crowned The Whiteleys Redevelopment in Bayswater, London, as the overall winner. This project transformed the historic Whiteleys shopping centre into a mixed-use residential and retail space, achieving a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating while preserving its Grade II-listed façade.
