Milestone for Glasgow student accommodation scheme
The third core of the 551-bed Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) complex at 225 Bath Street, Glasgow, has been completed by Graham and its frame partner, Hampsey, in less than eight weeks.
With each core standing at 36m in Glasgow’s skyline, the project team is celebrating the impressive milestone as they target practical completion in 2025.
The development replaces a vacant 1970’s office block that was demolished in 2023 and will offer a contemporary design with glazed frontage, complementing the existing streetscape.
A welcome addition to Glasgow’s PBSA offering, students will also benefit from luxury communal amenities including a gym, a gaming arcade, dining spaces and social areas set across 16,390 sq. ft. The new complex sits adjacent to an existing iQ Student Accommodation block – Elgin Place – which includes 323 beds, also delivered by Graham.
Gary Holmes, regional managing director at Graham Building North, said: “We’re really pleased with the significant progress being made at Bath Street since works commenced in July.
“The critical demand for new student homes across the city is an ongoing conversation and the new offering at 225 Bath Street will help to bridge the gap between supply and demand for students in Glasgow.”
The wider project team also includes architects Cooper Cromar, engineering consultant, Woolgar Hunter, project manager, Atkins Realis and cost consultants Cumming Group.
