Moore Concrete upgrades operations with cloud ERP system
Moore Concrete streamlines operations with cloud-based ERP
Moore Concrete has taken the first step in a three-year plan to modernise its operations by implementing a cloud-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. The precast concrete manufacturer has replaced complex spreadsheets with Infor SyteLine (CloudSuite Industrial) to improve stock control, lead times, and order accuracy.
Before this change, Moore Concrete relied on spreadsheets to track materials, production schedules, and customer orders. This made it difficult to maintain accurate lead times and manage stock levels efficiently. The move to an ERP system allows the company to automate processes and gain real-time visibility of stock and production data.
Improved stock control and efficiency
One of the key benefits of the new system is improved stock control. By using line-side stock control, staff can now see component levels and demand for each factory. This helps ensure that the right materials are available at the right time, reducing the need for safety stock and lowering inventory costs by around 10%.
“The standardisation and streamlining the system brings means we can scale in a very considered and confident way,” says Peter Steele, digitalisation manager at Moore Concrete. “Because we now have a more granular view of costs, we can be more competitive, which is imperative as we pursue ambitious growth plans.”
The new system also supports bills of materials (BoMs), ensuring greater accuracy in production planning. This reduces errors and helps Moore Concrete achieve a high on-time and in-full delivery (DIFOT) rate.
Future plans for automation and reporting
The second phase of the project will focus on advanced planning and scheduling (APS) to match production levels with demand while reducing waste. The company will also introduce integrated document management (IDM) to improve control of records and reports.
By 2026, the final phase will see the system extended to cover quality management, human resources (HR), and weighbridge integration for better tracking of goods. Moore Concrete also plans to digitise yard picking, loading, and customer collections, with the ERP system linking directly to the company’s website.
Steele adds, “Both our confidence and the value we are getting out of the system are increasing every month. We’re looking forward to embracing the next phases to build on this even further.”
Moore Concrete expects these changes to reduce admin time, lower costs, and improve order fulfilment, helping the business grow while maintaining high customer service standards.
