PERI UK invests in CNC machinery
PERI UK has invested £250,000 in a CNC cutting machine, aiming to speed up panel production and reduce costs for its formwork customers. The new equipment allows replacement plywood panels, used in formwork systems, to be cut in-house rather than being processed in Germany.
This change significantly shortens lead times, a key benefit for contractors using PERI products on major projects, says the company, including Hinkley Point C where it has already used the CNC machine to fulfil a large plywood order for the nuclear power station project.
Paul Cousins, panel and timber products manager, says: “We’re really pleased to offer a replacement plywood panel service to our customers and provide additional support to our fabrication department when needed. We’re already seeing improvements in the speed at which we can replace plywood formlining and return our customers’ equipment to them.”
The machine also supports PERI’s fabrication service, which produces over 100 square metres of custom temporary works components monthly. It can handle complex cuts for bespoke designs, such as cleat boxes and freeform elements.
PERI says the investment also benefits its workforce. Employees are being trained in CNC programming and operation, reducing reliance on external specialists. This upskilling strengthens the company’s internal expertise.
In addition to the CNC machine, PERI is installing a panel wall saw, set to be operational by January 2025. This will further expand its capabilities in the fit-out, flooring, and construction markets.
