Cemex renews FRET21commitment

Construction materials supplier Cemex to renew commitment to FRET21

Cemex achieved a 10% reduction in carbon emissions from transporting aggregates and concrete in France in 2023 compared with 2021. This achievement aligns with the company’s three-year commitment to FRET21, a French initiative to reduce CO2 emissions from freight transport, and Future in Action programme, which focuses on becoming a net-zero CO2 company by 2050.

Cemex is advancing its logistics and supply chain decarbonisation through route optimizsation, lower-carbon fuels, and innovative technologies. In river transport, pushers use hydrogenated vegetable oil instead of diesel, while rail transport has increased the number of wagons to reduce truck traffic. The company has also replaced trucks with biogas or biofuel options, encouraging partners to follow suit.

Cemex is preparing to renew its commitment to the FRET21 scheme for the next three years, enhancing its efforts through reinforced commitments or new actions.
