RBL completes major foundation work at Riverbrook Gardens

Concrete foundation beams for houses laid out on a construction site To date, Roger Bullivant has installed 1,800 piles and 7,400 metres of ground beams at Riverbrook Gardens.

Roger Bullivant has delivered key foundation systems for the latest phase of Riverbrook Gardens, a residential development in Alnwick by Story Homes. The project will include 3, 4, and 5-bedroom homes, with Roger Bullivant serving as the foundation contractor across multiple phases.

In the latest phase, the company installed more than 850 driven precast concrete piles and 3,600 metres of precast ground beams, using its RBeam system. Manufactured offsite at the company’s headquarters in South Derbyshire, RBeam is designed to improve efficiency by reducing on-site labour and material waste. The system is part of modern methods of construction (MMC) and meets MMC Category 3 standards, which focus on premanufactured, modular components.

Phil Howard, north east foundation systems manager at Roger Bullivant, said: “The Riverbrook Gardens project is a fantastic example of how our RBeam system brings efficiency and quality to large-scale residential developments. By manufacturing our piles and beams offsite, we’re able to deliver a reliable, cost-effective foundation solution that meets the high standards of both Story Homes and the Northumberland community.”

The 200mm square driven piles were chosen for their ability to handle the site’s varied ground conditions, which include clays, sands, and gravels. These piles ensure stable support for the new homes, contributing to the long-term durability of the development.

To date, Roger Bullivant has installed 1,800 piles and 7,400 metres of ground beams at Riverbrook Gardens. The work highlights the company’s capacity to manage high volumes efficiently and its ongoing collaboration with Story Homes on residential projects across the north east.
