RBL and C3 Construction partner on Kettering Project
Roger Bullivant Limited (RBL) has completed a precast foundation package for a new residential development in Kettering. Working alongside groundworks specialist C3 Construction, the project involved installing foundations for 72 homes and 21 garages in a single construction phase.
The scheme required driven precast concrete piles, designed to handle compressive, horizontal, and heave forces. These were driven to an average depth of 10 metres, passing through made ground and into the underlying clay to ensure stability.
RBL delivered a combination of precast RBeam and bespoke cast-on-site ground beams to suit varying site conditions. The entire foundation package was completed in 20 weeks.
Sustainability was a key consideration, with RBL using low-carbon concrete in all precast elements. This reduced the project’s carbon footprint while maintaining durability and strength. The use of a modular ‘kit of parts’ approach minimised material waste and optimised efficiency by selecting standardised foundation beams from the RBeam system.
Collaboration between RBL and C3 Construction was crucial to the project’s success. By coordinating platform levels early, the teams enabled the recovery of the stone piling platform, cutting costs and keeping the project on schedule.
Luke Taylor, regional operations manager at RBL, said: "The success of this project highlights the value of a strong partnership with C3 Construction. Their proactive approach and expertise in groundworking enabled us to coordinate seamlessly, reducing delays and ensuring the foundations were completed to the highest standards."
